Phases of the Moon & Tides

Walt: Make an animation about the phases of the moon and how our moons affect the tide.

Our task was to create an animation explaining the phases of the moon and how they affect our tides. This movie explains what kinds of moons, affect our tides and their name. It took a little while for me to search for other tides that might have been affected by our moon. I hope you enjoy my movie.

Area L3

Walt: Find the area of objects

Our task was to find the area of different objects and to answer them properly. But the first slide showed us an example of what we are suppose to do. Some of the questions required us to find the equation and what the answer is. Most of the questions were really hard to answer, it took a lot of time for me to figure them out.

Writing a Quality Blog Post

WALT: We are learning to write quality blog post

Our task was to write a comment on the chosen blog post and to leave a positive comment. Then we had to use the following tips from different videos, so it can teach us many things about leaving a comment. We also had to put in questions or something they need to work on, we were allowed to put in a compliment or a question.

Identify different Language Features on an Ad

WALA: The language features used in advertising. The different forms media advertising may take. 

Our task was to write on a piece of paper that Mrs Iloa gave to the whole classroom. We had to list down the things that we can identify in the poster. We also had share our ideas with the classroom on what made our poster a really good ad. What I have learnt is that, there are different ways of how your ad can look, or the way you choose to set it up.

Quality Blog Post

WALT: We are learning to create a positive digital footprint by connecting with our readers in a kind,
positive and helpful way.

Our task was to highlight the little boxes in green or red. The green meant that they have included that and red means that they haven't included it yet. Then our next task was to choose a blog post from our own school and highlight the boxes that they have included or don't have. I've enjoyed doing this inquiry work.

Neil Armstrong

Walt: Gather, evaluate and synthesise information across a range of texts.

Our task was to evaluate and synthesise information that we gathered from different websites. We needed to check out different websites to see if the information we gathered was true or false. Afterwards, we had to gather photo's and video's to explain the process, when Neil was inspired to becoming the first man on the moon.

Immersion Assembly - Term 3

Walt: Write about the Immersion Assembly that took place in our school hall.

What impact does the moon have on Earth? We humans have not been looking after our natural resources that we have on our planet. Our theme for this term is called “Guardians of the Galaxy!” We’re not only learning about our planet, but are focusing on other things that is beyond earth and the atmosphere in space.

Once we entered the hall for our immersion assembly. Suddenly, the lights turned off and all we could see were the southern lights that was glowing on the ceiling. The colours were bright, we were all fascinated by the different colours. It felt like we were all in space. Then the drone flew all over the hall.

Mr Burt and Mrs Nua was pretending to be like aliens and invade our world. But then, Mr Jacobsen and Mr Somerville came in to save us from the aliens. They both used laser staff to terminate the alien's. There are lot’s of things that happens in space like, galaxies, universe, gravity, milky way, constellations, black holes and an aurora. The stars in outer space shine just like matariki stars and they are really 

One of my main highlights was watching Team 1’s movie about how the moon and sun rotate around our planet. They are learning about how both the sun and moon affect our planet and what is the main purpose of them even existing?

My other favourite highlight about the assembly was watching the Team 3's movie. They were talking about our daily lives and talking about how time runs in the galaxy, also how it affects us. I really enjoyed watching the movies and Team 5's acting that they put together, all by themselves.
